What is UICC?
Union Information Service Center (UISC) - Digital Bangladesh Terrestrial UISC Q: Free Information Stream One of the prerequisites for people's empowerment. It is possible to bring positive changes in their living standards by ensuring information flow especially among the disadvantaged people. In order to ensure public empowerment by reaching the information and services of all at grassroots level, initiative has been taken to set up Union Information and Services Center (UISC) at the Union level with the help of Access to Information Program of the Local Government Division and Honorable Prime Minister's Office. The Union Information and Services Center is a Digital Bangladesh-Vision 2021, an advanced information center (telecentre) through which it is possible to reach easily and accessible information and services to grassroots people. UISC's entrepreneur / director: Each of the two UISCs (one male and one female) will be trained / skilled / entrepreneurial entrepreneurs, who have a good understanding and proper knowledge about the use of information and communication technology to find and provide information and services. In 178 unions of 16 upazilas of Comilla district, there are already collections of accessories, including desktops / laptops computers, scanners, web cams, modems, printers. For each union information service center, two educated youth / youth women are selected and they are being made as entrepreneurs with intensive training of 10 (ten) days at district level. UISC management: There will be a 7-9 member management committee for the management of the UISC. The Chairman of the Union Parishad will serve as the head of the committee. The term of this committee is 2 (two) years. List and pricing of information and services in UISC: The information and services of the UISC will be both in-offline and online. Information and services in the database will be arranged in animation, video, audio and text - in these four formats. Information through the internet (online): There will be internet connectivity in the UISC through which any person in the union will be able to connect with the whole world. It is possible to find any information required from local and foreign web sites. Offline databases: There will be a huge database outside the Internet at UISC. In this (offline) database, there will be a variety of information-based information services; For example, agriculture, health, education, law and human rights, employment, market, various government forms, etc. Commercial services (1): Business services will be available at cheap prices at the UISC; Such as sending e-mails, browsing the Internet, computing computers, printing, colored photos, scanning, multimedia projectors, etc. Commercial services (2): The UISC offers computer training at affordable prices and various skill training programs. Skill development training will be easy, affordable and using local technology on different income generating initiatives; Such as making various foods, making industrial equipment (such as candles), tailoring, repairing electrical equipment, organic fertilizer production etc. Counseling services: From the UISC to ensure regular consultation services (such as agriculture, healthcare) through government officials, the Union Parishad will ensure that. Counseling services will include soil test fertilizers and pesticides, fish farming, health, land registration, legal advice etc. Information and Services Price: All information on the offline database will be provided free of charge at the UISC. However, if any information and services of offline are to be printed in the form of text, then the fee will be determined by the EISSC. All information and services based on online basis must be collected and paid. All commercial services will be collected and paid by the UISC. However, consultation services of government and private officials will be available free of charge.
